Hellenic Seaways has an active presence in the Greek seas as of February 1999. It is the largest Hellenic maritime company: with its 32 vessels it serves more than 35 ports in the Cyclades, Saronikos and the Sporades.
Hellenic Seaways was expanded with great success to new coastal lines. In 2007 the newly built Nissos Hios was put on the line Piraeus - Chios - Mytilene. Within 2007, the refit of the super luxurious ship ARIADNE was also completed in Greece. It is the largest passenger/vehicle ferry in garage capacity of the Hellenic coastal navigation, and it was put in the line Piraeus - Ikaria - Samos.
Satisfying the requirements of modern passengers for comfort, safety and speed in sea transportation, the NISSOS CHIOS makes the line Piraeus - Chios - Mytilene in 6 and 8½ hours respectively, and the NISSOS MYKONOS approaches Ikaria on 5½ hours and Samos on 7 hours.
In 2007, the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels gave to Hellenic Seaways the award of Tourist Business of 2007, for its determining role in upgrading and further developing the Hellenic coastal navigation and the sea transportation in the wider Greek island area.
